How To DIY Clean Your Headlights
Foggy or yellowed headlights can reduce visibility and safety. Here’s a simple DIY method to restore their clarity!
What You’ll Need:
- Soap and water
- Microfiber cloths
- Masking tape
- Sandpaper (1000-, 2000-, 3000-grit)
- Plastic polish
- UV-resistant sealant
- Spray bottle with water
Steps:
- Wash the Headlights: Clean with soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Tape the Area: Protect paint and trim with masking tape.
- Wet Sand:
- Start with 1000-grit sandpaper, sanding horizontally.
- Move to 2000-grit sandpaper, sanding vertically.
- Finish with 3000-grit, sanding in circles. Keep the surface wet.
- Polish: Apply plastic polish with a microfiber cloth and buff until clear.
- Seal: Protect with a UV-resistant sealant to prevent future discoloration.
Tips:
- Work in shade to avoid quick drying.
- Use consistent pressure while sanding.
