How To De-Ice Your Windows

Winter mornings can be rough! Especially when you walk outside to find your car’s windows covered in ice! Scraping away that stubborn frost is no fun, but luckily, there are better and faster ways to de-ice your windows. Let’s go over the best methods to get your car clear and ready to roll!

1. Start Your Car and Turn on the Defroster

One of the easiest ways to melt ice is to let your car do the work! Start your Engine and turn the Defroster on high. The warm air will slowly loosen the ice, making it easier to remove.

Pro Tip: If you have time, wait a few minutes before scraping. It’ll be much easier!

2. Use a De-Icing Spray

A simple homemade de-icer can save you time and effort. Just mix:
🔹 2 parts rubbing alcohol (or vinegar)
🔹 1 part water

Pour it into a spray bottle and spritz it on your icy windows. The ice will start melting right away!

3. Grab an Ice Scraper (Not a Credit Card!)

A sturdy ice scraper is your best friend in winter. After your defroster and de-icer do their job, use the scraper to remove any leftover ice.

Don’t use a credit card, metal objects, or hot water! These can scratch or even crack your windshield.

4. Cover Your Windshield Overnight

Want to avoid ice altogether? Try covering your windshield with:
✅ A towel or old blanket
✅ A windshield cover
✅ Even a rubber bath mat!

In the morning, just remove the cover!

Stay Safe and Drive Smart!

Clearing your windows before driving isn’t just convenient, it’s important for safety. Icy windows can block your view and make driving dangerous. Take a few extra minutes to de-ice properly and stay safe on the road!
